Listen to the anthem of ICG Tallinn 2025
European Capital of Sport Tallinn is gearing up to host the 57th International Children’s Games from 4–7 August. The official anthem of the event will be “Same Old Stories,” performed by Estonian artist m els.
The International Children’s Games is the world’s largest multi-sport event for youth aged 12–15. Its broader aim is to increase cultural awareness among school-aged children and to offer them an opportunity to build international connections through the spirit of sport and friendship.
Written by Stig Rästa, “Same Old Stories” encourages young people to create and share meaningful moments, while fostering motivation, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging.
The ICG Tallinn 2025 anthem is performed by talented singer and songwriter Merili Käsper, who rose to prominence through Eesti Laul 2023 and performs under the stage name m els.
“I’m happy that my new song ‘Same Old Stories’ has been given such an important role and meaning as the anthem of the International Children’s Games. The song is about doing exactly what feels right and brings you joy in the moment. That message aligns perfectly with the mission of the Games,” said m els.
The song will be performed on 4 August at 19:00 during the festive opening ceremony of ICG Tallinn 2025 at Kalev Stadium. Like the competitions themselves, the event is free for all spectators.
“I warmly welcome everyone to join us on 4 August for the opening of the Games at Kalev Stadium, where you'll experience a spectacular show and also see me perform live,” added m els.
ICG Tallinn 2025 will bring over 1,000 young athletes from 70 cities and 28 countries to the European Capital of Sport. Estonia will be represented by nearly 130 athletes from the cities of Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu, and Sillamäe.
Recognised by the International Olympic Committee, the competitions will award medals in athletics, swimming, fencing, judo, football, 3x3 basketball, and beach volleyball.
