Tallinn turns into a festive haven in December, bustling with a myriad of activities and sights - from the historic Old Town to its vibrant neighborhoods, Tallinn hosts an array of cultural and family-friendly events.

Tallinn invites everyone to welcome the New Year at Freedom Square, where the celebration will feature a concert with performances by ensemble LAINE, folk-infused beats of Trad.Attack!, rapper nublu and an innovative light show titled “New Beginning.” Due to the concert, there will be traffic closures in the area and rerouted public transport lines to accommodate the festivities.

Following through on its vision to ensure that sustainability, environmental friendliness and balanced development go hand in hand, the city has joined over sixty- six global destinations who benchmark with the GDS-Index.

Until the beginning of December, a new public transport vehicle with two bellows will be tested on Tallinn trolleybus lines, which can run as a trolley in the city centre, but can also disconnect its poles from the overhead wires if necessary and run on battery power like an electric bus.

Four innovative solutions were selected from this year’s application round of the Tallinnovation smart city competition, organized in cooperation of the Science Park Tehnopol and the City of Tallinn. The winners were road safety sensors, solar-powered luminaries, drones for rescue operations and an innovative package recycling solution.

By Tuesday evening, 15,922 voters had cast their votes in Tallinn polling places, which is a little over half of the people who had voted in polling places all over Estonia.

Tallinn has been ranked second in the 2022 Emerging Europe Business-Friendly City Perception Index for smart city development. Estonia tops the ranking of Eastern and Central European countries in terms of business environment conducive to foreign investment.

On 28 August at 9.00, fifteen teams will set off from the centre of Tallinn for the electric vehicle marathon round Estonia, on the route Tallinn-Pärnu-Tartu-Tallinn.
