On 12 September, the Tallinn Electoral Committee registered the candidates for the 2025 Tallinn City Council elections and conducted a draw to assign candidate numbers.

A total of 11 political parties, three electoral alliances, and 13 independent candidates have submitted their registration documents for the upcoming Tallinn City Council elections. In total, 1,125 candidates are competing for seats in the new City Council, which will be elected on 19 October. Candidate numbers will be assigned by a draw this Friday.

To vote in the Tallinn City Council elections, a voter’s official address in the population register must be in Tallinn no later than 19 September 2025. The voter lists are compiled based on the population register data as of that date.

The Tallinn Electoral Committee will continue accepting notices of registration for electoral alliances until 4 September, and candidate applications for the City Council and district councils until 9 September at 18:00.

The Tallinn Electoral Committee will accept applications for candidacy in the City Council and district councils from 20 August to 9 September.

For the third year in a row, Tallinn has published the annual report on the implementation of the “Tallinn 2035” development strategy. The report provides a clear overview of how the city delivered on its goals over the past year and how it tackled key challenges along the way.

Starting from 1 October 2025, the structure of the Tallinn Strategic Management Centre’s Business Services Department will be reformed. The existing Business Centre and Consumer Protection Division will be replaced by two new units: the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the Department of International Economic Partnerships.

The Tallinn Transport Department, in cooperation with the Integration Foundation, has launched the campaign “Learn Estonian on the go!”, bringing language learning into everyday travel. For just over a month, simple language tips and illustrations will be displayed on public transport and at stops.

Today, the SA Tallinna Haigla Arendus signed a contract with the joint bidders Osaühing Sirkel ja Mall and INDUSTRIA PROJECT Sp. z o.o. to start preparing the main design project for the future Tallinn Hospital medical campus.

The Swedbank Tallinn Marathon and Tallinna Sügisjooks (Autumn Run) will take place on the weekend of 13–14 September, bringing tens of thousands of running enthusiasts to the districts of Põhja-Tallinn, Kesklinn, and Haabersti. As a result, there will be temporary changes to traffic and public transport.
