Nearly 47,000 students begin the school year in Tallinn’s municipal schools
In the 2025/26 academic year, there are 60 municipal general education schools in Tallinn, with approximately 47,000 students enrolled. Around 3,700 children are starting first grade. The city also provides a start-of-school-year allowance for students up to the age of 19.
Tallinn students to be vaccinated in schools at the end of August
During the last two weekends of August - August 21 to 22, and August 27 to 29 - Tallinn will organize vaccination against COVID-19 in schools. Students aged 12-18, their families, but also other residents are expected to get vaccinated. There is no need to pre-register for vaccination in schools.
Tallinn museums are open again, following the effective restrictions
In connection with the alleviating of corona restrictions, it will be possible to visit several museums in Tallinn again this week and see both reopening and brand new exhibitions. It is required to wear a mask and follow the 2+2 rule when visiting museums, and there is a 25% occupancy restriction in force in the exhibition halls.
Slacklines installed in schoolyards
As part of a charity campaign that took place throughout September, 75 schools across Estonia, including 8 Tallinn schools, received slacklines to promote physical activity among students.
Vaccinations organized in ten Tallinn schools on the weekend
Over the coming weekend, on October 9 and 10, vaccination is again organized in Tallinn schools. One school is open for vaccination on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and seven schools are open from 10 am to 6 pm, and in two schools, one can be vaccinated on Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Everyone from the age of 12 are welcome to get vaccinated without pre-registration.
Tallinn Marathon causes temporary changes to traffic
Next weekend, on September 10 and 11, the Tallinn Marathon will bring more than ten thousand runners from more than forty countries to Tallinn, causing several temporary changes to traffic and public transport in the city.
Sunday is this year's penultimate Tallinn Museum Day
This Sunday, 6 November, admission to museums affiliated to Tallinn Museum is free of charge. The next and last Museum Sunday in which the entry is free will take place on 4 December.
Tallinn Day celebrated for the 21st time this year
Tallinn Day will be celebrated for the 21st time on Sunday 15 May, but the first events to mark the city's birthday will take place on Friday 13 May.
