During the last two weekends of October, residents of Tallinn can once again give away hazardous waste free of charge. On October 23, hazardous waste are collected in Kesklinn and Lasnamäe, on October 24 in Kristiine and Põhja-Tallin, on October 30 in Pirita and Mustamäe, and on October 31 in Haabersti and Nõmme.

The speed limits will be lowered on Tallinn's streets to ensure safer traffic. The maximum speed allowed will be 30 km/h on a number of inner district roads and 40 km/h on some of the larger streets in the city centre.

Tallinn residents will be able to dispose of bulky waste at waste stations free of charge from 22 to 28 August. Waste stations and hazardous waste collection points will be closed on 20 August, the Day of Restoration of Independence.

This weekend, Tallinners can get involved in a series of community clean-ups and help make the city cleaner as part of the Let's Do It campaign. Helping hands are welcome in Põhja-Tallinn, Haabersti, Kesklinn, Nõmme and Kristiine districts, and activities take place on Friday and Saturday.

Although bulky waste is covered by the organised waste collection scheme and need to be handed over on a separate agreement with your waste collector, Tallinn residents will again be able to drop off bulky waste free of charge at all waste collection stations in Tallinn for a week (9-15 May) as part of Environment Month.

Used car tyres resulting from the spring tyre replacement can be disposed of free of charge at a collection point or a waste station.

The Tallinn Environment and Public Works Department and the Kristiine district government will present the project for the reconstruction of the Tondi and Kotka streets intersection at a public consultation near the Tondi railway station (Tondi 21a) on Wednesday, 30 March at 6 pm.

All four waste stations in Tallinn are open every day from the beginning of April to provide smoother service. The stations switch to summer operation on 1 April, which also means longer opening hours.

Organised for the first time, the free bulky waste collection week resulted in ten times as much bulky waste collected at Tallinn's waste collection stations than during the usual week in March. A total of 1 472 cubic metres of bulky waste was collected at the stations during the week, up from 125 cubic metres a week earlier.
