Mayor Mihhail Kõlvart and minister Jaan Tammsalu will light the first Advent candle on Sunday, 27 November at 4pm on the Christmas tree in Town Hall Square.

The architectural competition for the extension of Tallinna Reaalkool – Tallinn Secondary School of Science – has been won by an Estonian architecture office Molumba with the design R². Construction is scheduled to start in 2024.

Due to the preparations for the Estonian Independence Day parade taking place on Vabaduse Square in Tallinn, the Covid prevention point on Vabaduse Square will be closed on 23 and 24 February. Other vaccination points in the city will remain open even during the national holiday.

After a year of operating, Tallinn’s COVID prevention centres are coming to an end in February and March. The points open in shopping centres will run until the end of February and the one on Vabaduse Square until the end of March. Vaccination at home will be available until the end of February.

From Sunday 26 December, free rapid antigen testing is provided at the vaccination, counselling and testing centre in Tallinn's Vabaduse Square. The service is intended as an additional preventive measure to reduce the risks of infection before meeting elderly people or people at high risk.

Seven of Tallinn's eight COVID prevention points will be closed from 24 to 26 December, while the Vabaduse Square point will remain open on 26 December. On New Year's Eve, all points will be open until 19:00, and on 1 January they will all be closed.

Today, 6 December, a new landmark was officially opened in Jaan Poska Street in Kadriorg, Tallinn – the oldest concrete electric pole in Estonia, which was renovated in cooperation between the power company Elektrilevi and the City of Tallinn, installed in a new location and now also equipped with an information board.

The first free Museum Sunday of 2023 will take place this Sunday, 8 January. The initiative will be joined by the Nõmme Museum, located in the former station building.

This Sunday, 7 May, the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia will again participate in a free of charge Museum Sunday after being closed for the winter season. Due to construction works and various events, the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds Visitor Centre will not take part in the Museum Sundays until August.

The annual City Council Scholarships were awarded to master's and doctoral students at the Jaan Poska House yesterday. A total of 15 scholarships amounting to €36,000 were granted.
