The Mayor of Tallinn Mihhail Kõlvart met with the Mayor of Laval Stéphane Boyer and Tallinn shared its experience with free public transport and they discussed the topic of city planning.

The Tallinn Urban Planning Department will carry out a substitute execution to demolish an illegally constructed building in the Kristiine district at Mõtuse Street 25a, as the construction lacks the necessary design conditions and building permit. The property owner has ignored all injunctions issued over two years.

Today, on April 15, representatives from the City of Tallinn and the architectural firm Sammas Arhitektuuribüroo OÜ unveiled the project for a new school building and its construction progress at Karjamaa Street 18, Põhja-Tallinn. In response to the growing demand for school places due to new developments in the area, the city plans to renovate a building formerly used as a school until 2021 and open a new primary school with 864 student places.

The City of Tallinn, the Estonian Jewish Congregation, and the NGO Estonian Jewish Community (MTÜ Eesti Juudi Kogukond) signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding today to ensure the sustainable development of the Tallinn Jewish School and the creation of a modern learning environment at the historic Karu Street building.

Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski sent a letter today to Prime Minister Kristen Michal urging the government to make a decision on funding the new medical campus in Tallinn and establishing a unified hospital system. If the government fails to act soon, the city will move ahead on its own to merge its healthcare institutions – East Tallinn Central Hospital, West Tallinn Central Hospital, and Tallinn Children’s Hospital. The state-owned North Estonia Medical Centre (PERH) can only be included in this merger with a decision from the national government. Without such a decision, PERH will remain outside the unified hospital system in Tallinn.

This year, the City of Tallinn will plant 3,500 trees in parks, courtyards, and along streets—matching the number of new little Tallinn residents expected to be born in 2025. It marks the city’s largest-ever tree-planting initiative, aimed at creating a healthier and greener urban environment.

Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski has signed a directive terminating the official duties of Deputy Mayors Pärtel-Peeter Pere and Viljar Jaamu in their respective areas of responsibility. In an extraordinary City Government meeting, it was also decided to dismiss Sander Andla, City Centre District Governor, and Doris Raudsepp, Pirita District Governor.

At today’s City Government meeting on 29 July, Deputy Mayor Viljar Jaamu submitted his letter of resignation. His term of office will end on 30 July 2025.

The City of Tallinn plans to significantly increase support for the Food Bank (Toidupank) to ensure that food aid reaches more people in need. Currently, approximately 6,300 people receive food aid weekly in Tallinn. In September, Tallinn Food Bank (Tallinna Toidupank) opened a distribution point in Mustamäe, and next year, it plans to expand to Põhja-Tallinn to bring food distribution closer to those in need. Assistance is provided in close cooperation with local social workers, who assess individuals' need for support.

On December 11, Tallinn Mayor Jevgeni Ossinovski hosted a year-end reception for representatives of foreign embassies and international organizations based in Tallinn. This year, the event took place at the newly opened Kadriorg Park Orangery.
